Race for Space

Race for Space

Race for Space is a popular and unusual activity that sees teams working together to build and launch their very own rocket! As part of the event, teams must first track down all the necessary rocket resources by solving a number of problems before they head to the launch pad for the grand lift off finale. The activity can be run as a fun breakout event or be designed as a full day team activity.

Race for Space is a flexible activity that can be run in a number of different ways to suit different team sizes, timings and venues. As a short conference breakout activity, it can provide teams with a fun energiser as they undertake a number of different tasks in order to track down all the necessary pieces required to build and launch the rocket. On a more advanced level, teams can be provided with money, budgets and a range of problems to solve in order to purchase the equipment needed.

Once teams have acquired all the necessary pieces including an engine, nose cone, parachute and rocket fuselage, they are required to complete the building before heading off to the allocated launch zone to fire the rockets.

Under the supervision of our experienced staff, the rockets are connected to the electronic firing mechanisms before the final countdown takes place and then they’re off. 5… 4… 3… 2… 1… Blast off!

If all has gone to plan, the engines flare, the rockets launch in a plume of smoke, fly to over 500 feet and gently float back down to earth on the in-built parachute. If required, rockets can be decorated with corporate stickers and colours to really reinforce a business message or get a product launch off to a flying start!

Race for Space is a great activity for all teams and provides participants with an impressive finale as they launch their rockets from the designated launch pad.
