Interactive Cocktails
This truly unique and totally interactive event introduces guests to the thrilling world of cocktail culture. The experience demands communication, individual dexterity, team creativity and hawk-like observation. This is a frenetic, highly energised occasion heavily laced with humour and designed to encourage a competitive team spirit and provide an unrivalled form of corporate entertainment.
Structure
Re-enacting significant events in cocktail history, demonstrating cocktail skills such as speed-mixing, layering, flaring (bottle juggling) & creative mixing, the host then invites the teams to compete and replicate the tasks in group and individual rounds. This event provides a first hand encounter with the skills of the world-class cocktail expert and guests depart having experienced a previously unforeseen side to the creative talents of both themselves and those around them.
Introduction
Firstly a welcome introduction to the event takes place, with an overview of what will be involved and a humorous familiarisation with what is on the tables, always involving members of the audience.
Recreation Challenges – Single Ingredient Event
Here we have a demonstration based on the versatility of the basic spirits, e.g. gin, vodka, whisky, etc. The activity starts with an overview of the production process followed by examples of how the spirit can be mixed to create any one of many cocktail styles. The key here is to demonstrate how you can go away and create your own range of fabulous cocktails from what you have in your drinks cabinet. Each team re-creates the cocktails, which are then scrutinised by the expert for points.
The Ability Test – Layering Challenge
The host will begin by demonstrating the art of layering one ingredient on top of another. Then the host will task each team to make a drink with as many layers in one glass as possible using the ingredients on their tables. The record still stands at eleven layers in a Martini glass. Could you get more in?
Creation Events / The Finale – Innovation Challenge
The host sets teams criteria by which they must ‘invent’ a unique cocktail. A range of spirits, liqueurs, juices, glasses, mixing equipment and fruit are provided for each team. They experiment for a set period before mixing the cocktail and nominating one or more members of the team to present it to the entire audience, explaining the ingredients, how it was named and in which ways it conforms to the original criteria. In this event, points are not only scored for the quality of the cocktail, but also for the skill and entertainment value of the final presentation. The results are assessed by our expert for possible inclusion in the next edition of the Mammoth Book of Cocktails, written by the host.
The Interactive Cocktails event can be run as a seated show with guests on round tables of six to ten people, alternatively for events where groups are large guests will be standing around tables and throughout the event will rotate around the Challenge Zones to complete the various challenges.
