Cookery School
Cooking is one of the biggest hobbies and pastimes in the UK. The Underground Cookery School was set up in the summer of 2003 to offer a fun and informal way of learning uncomplicated, delicious, contemporary cooking.
All classes are suitable for beginners as well as more adventuro us cooks.
On the day the fun begins with Champagne, Canapés and funky music to get everyone in the mood.
Then working in state of art kitchens and in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere you’ll cook a meal with your team, under the supervision and guidance of fully trained professional chef’s. Trade secrets in how to present simple dishes to Michelin standards will be passed on together with the session’s recipe sheets.
The experienced “Front of House” team will be on hand to do all the washing up during the practical cookery session, as well as serving your meal and fine wines once you’ve sat down to enjoy the banquet you have just created. A beautifully dressed table offers the perfect restaurant experience, where you will enjoy the meal you have just created together with lovely red and white wines. All alcohol, from the moment you arrive is included in the package.
Matt Kemp
Despite working in some of London’s top restaurants like The River Cafe, The Ivy and Pont De La Tour, Chef/Patron Matt Kemp considers himself self-taught.
From an early age, he started to follow recipes with mixed results! “I ruined everything I tried to cook for the first time, but always learned from my mistakes.” Once Matt established a feel for basic textures and consistencies, he started to put together his own recipes, combining ingredients he thought would go well together.
Training under 3 star chef Michael Guerard in France gave Matt technical experience such as detailed presentation, knife skills and organisation.
